Why does a city only show "5 of 7 sources reporting"?

Not every source has a station near every city, and satellite analyses publish on their own schedule — some update daily, others every one to fourteen days. The average shown is calculated only from whichever sources have current data at that moment; the app never invents a number.

The app seems stuck loading — what's wrong?

Every reading is fetched live from public meteorological services when you open a city, so a slow or offline connection is almost always the cause. Pull down or tap the refresh icon to try again once you're back online.

Where does the 10-day forecast come from?

From Open-Meteo Marine's ocean model — the only one of the seven sources that predicts rather than measures. Satellites and coastal stations report what the water is doing right now, not what it will do next week.

Can I use the app without accepting the license agreement?

No — it's shown once, on first launch, and needs to be accepted to continue. You can reread it any time afterwards from Settings & About.

Does the app work offline?

The map and interface open without a connection, but every temperature, chart, and beach photo needs the network to load, since none of it is bundled with the app.

Why do temperatures differ slightly from other apps or websites?

Every provider measures differently — satellite skin temperature, buoy readings, and coastal station sensors can disagree by a degree or so even at the same place and time. Averaging seven sources smooths out single-station noise, but it won't match any one competing app exactly.

I bought a tip but nothing happened — is that normal?

Yes. Tips are a one-time "buy me a coffee" gesture with no unlock attached — they don't change anything in the app, there's nothing to restore, and no receipt is emailed by the app itself (App Store sends its own purchase confirmation). If a tip failed to charge or charged twice, contact Apple Support for a refund, since all payments are processed by Apple, not by the developer.

Why does the water temperature change between the map and the city page?

The map shows a quick snapshot cached a short while ago; opening a city refreshes all seven sources live. If you've had the app open for a while, pull to refresh on the map to resync it.

How current is the beach information?

Beach names, locations, and photos are curated by hand and updated occasionally, not in real time. If a beach has closed, moved, or the photo is wrong, email the address above with the city name.

Data sources

Every reading is an average of up to seven independent public sources: Open-Meteo Marine (current + forecast), Copernicus Marine Service, NOAA OISST, EU Copernicus Climate Change Service, and regional coastal-station networks around the Baltic. The app itself never estimates or interpolates a number that no source reported.

Tip jar & purchases

Baltic Water Temperature is free, with no ads and no subscription. The optional tip jar in Settings & About offers six one-time amounts as a way to support development — none of them unlock features or remove anything, since there's nothing locked to begin with. All purchases are handled by Apple; for billing issues, duplicate charges, or refunds, use Report a Problem in your Apple ID purchase history, since the developer has no access to payment details.
